By starting
treatment for high blood pressure earlier and being more aggressive, physicians in the U.S. control hypertension significantly better than their counterparts in western Europe. Sixty-three percent of U.S. patients had their blood pressure under control -- compared to 31 percent to 46 percent in Italy, the UK, Germany, Spain or France. The authors caution, however, that better blood pressure control in the United States "should not be too quickly praised."

The next big idea in preventing wrinkles is very, very small. Nano small. A Michigan State University chemical engineer has discovered that nanoparticles can stop thin polymer films from buckling and wrinkling, and that could well work to join the war by warding off dreaded buckles in human skin.

The prostate is a glandular organ present only in males. It surrounds the neck of the bladder and the first part of urethra. The prostate contributes a secretion to the semen. The gland is conical in shape and measures 3 cm in vertical diameter and 4 cm in transverse diameter.
As men age the prostate enlarges. Since the first part of the urethra passes through the prostate any lesion in the prostate will produce difficulty in passing urine. The most common problem is prostate infection, a malady called prostatitis. Although not morbid on its own if left untreated prostatitis can lead to kidney infection. Because so many prostate problems exhibit similar symptoms all men over 50 should have a regular PSA test.

In a new study on Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) -- a distressing or impairing preoccupation with an imagined or slight defect in one's appearance -- researchers from Bradley Hospital and Brown Medical School found that individuals who are concerned about their weight are more impaired than those whose appearance-concerns are not weight-related. This is particularly important, as weight-related preoccupations have at times not been considered diagnostic of BDD.
